What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer or other digital device that contains information that allows the site to recognize your device. The cookie is stored in the device (such as a smartphone, reader or computer) that you use to enable the site to recognize you the next time you visit, or for the Service to provide a certain desired experience.
There are two types of cookies, permanent and temporary (session cookies). Permanent cookies are stored as a file on your computer or mobile device for a long period of time. Permanent cookies are stored on your computer or mobile device until they either a) expire after a timeframe that varies between cookies b) are overwritten by new cookies, or c) are manually removed. Session cookies are temporarily placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a site, but disappear when you close it, meaning they are not permanently saved on your device.
We use information from cookies to make our site and the Service more user friendly and to enable us to provide customized content. We also use a number of authorized third parties who, in our place, put out cookies on our site to deliver the services they provide.
These third parties are listed below:
Branch Metrics Inc. enables sharing of links that facilitates navigation to and within the website and the app, for our users, and enables the collection of statistics on traffic to the website and the app.
Facebook Inc. allows marketing in their channels to occur based on actions made or not made on the Big Hearts website.
Alphabet Inc. and its affiliates enables collection of statistics on impressions and interactions with ads, statistics on interactions with the website and the app, storage of encrypted user data, and display of videos associated with user data.
Stripe Inc. provides payment solutions for visitors to enable charity donations by paying directly on the website.
When using our service, the aforementioned third parties may also place cookies on your phone in order to measure the results of our customers’ banner advertising. Third parties may only collect anonymous data through cookies or other tracking methods in order to report and monitor the number of impressions, reach, and conversion of banner ads.
How do I see which cookies are stored?
Your browser usually saves all cookies in a particular directory on your computer’s hard drive. One way to know which cookies are stored on your computer is to review that directory and examine the content. However, session cookies need not be stored on the hard drive, so you can not be sure to find them with this method.
How do I disable cookies?
You can choose whether you want to accept cookies or not. By having the settings of the device you use set to allow cookies, you agree to receive cookies from our site. You have the option to set if you want cookies to be automatically saved in your device, if you want to be prompted every time a cookie is to be saved or if you do not want any cookies to be saved. To do this, change the settings in your browser to no longer allow cookies. How you do this depends on the type of browser you are using. You need to follow the same process on all browsers you use, whether on different or the same computers or devices. If you choose to turn off cookies, it will prevent parts of our site and Service from working correctly.
We ask users that do not accept cookies to refrain from using the Service. If a User that has previously accepted these terms wants to erase already stored information in the device then the User needs to clear data through the settings page of the device, as well as restore advertising ID for ad tracking or by uninstalling the app and clearing cookies in the browser, depending on the operating system of the device. If the User does not accept the terms in this document then the User should cease to use the Service.
